I am going to be teaching a beginning Belly Dance workshop in Sun Valley this Saturday June 4th 11:30-1:30pm at Zenergy Heath Club. I am very excited about it. We will be going over basic moves, undulations, and basic combos. Its going to be a blast!

I am also very excited about traveling to Santa Fe next week, of the SEEDs Teacher Training program. I am working on starting a SEEDs program her in Boise this coming Fall.

From the Pomegranate website:

“The SEEDs program (Self-esteem,Empowerment and Education through Dance)
Pomegranate SEEDs is an after school program, established by Founder/Director Myra Krien in 2001 to present to youth the finest instruction in Middle Eastern Arts along with programming that promotes self-discovery and self-actualization, provides mentorship at a very high level and prepares young women for Independence.

The Mission
To mentor young women in order to create healthy and strong individuals who are socially and fiscally responsible to themselves and their community. This is accomplished through the vehicle of dance, specifically American Tribal Style (ATS) dance, talking circles, journal writing and presentations.

The Program
The program accepts 25 teen girls (13 to 18 years old) in the Santa Fe community for one academic year of after-school classes, 1 1/2 hours each, three times per week. Entrance into the program does not depend on demonstrated talent, standard beauty, or ability to pay the fees the program would require.”

Here is a video that Chad and I made about the SEEDs program and bout the “BELLY” screening that we did there last year.
